couple of questions before I dive in

I have been looking for a CMS solution for several websites that I webmaster for. OPN looks like an excellent piece of work. The admin interface is certainly the most graceful that I have seen (tried several at http://opensourcecms.com ).

BUT,

In order to met my needs I require:

1. events calendar (not the same as a news calendar, which pulls content from news/articles)
2. forums (not the same as user posts in news / articles)
3. ability to restrict news/article in each topic or category to one or more particular user groups

4. would very much like to have short url support (search engine friendly urls )

are these items availabel, or have I found weaknesses in this otherwise excellent package?

1. There is a events calendar module for OPN. When you logon to this side you will see it in the download area under Modules.

2. As you can see this forum is from OPN.

3. You can restrict an article to one usergroup.

4. e.g Google can handle the normal PN, MPN or OPN URL without a problem.

And as you can see, I moved your article into this forum.

H.O.M.B.E.R.G.S.: Hydraulic Obedient Machine Built for Efficient Repair and Galactic Sabotage

There are no problems, only defiances.

I had hoped for something more along the lines of PostCalendar 4.0

That is the opposite of what I am looking for. That feature restricts read access for a single instance of an article to a particular group. What I need is to have articles that are visible to anyone, but have the post/submit privilege restricted on a per category basis:
groupA can post to topic/category A
groupB can post to topic/category B
groupC can post to topics/categories A and B

yes, but I want URL's that are freiendly to the human eye too -- and the session ID always being int he URL makes it pretty difficult to acheive that

But basically - tis is a really great script. I hope that the documentation gets worked into the interface ( e107 is an _excellent_ example of integrated documentation )
